Position Summary
The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT is seeking to recruit a Project Financial
Analysis and Support (PLANS) consultant. The consultant will provide financial support in
relation to the projects that are being developed by the Alliance Research Areas and
Programs. This involves a budgetary analysis of proposals and, financial support as project
activities are being carried out (coordinating opening of BUSs, coordinating uploading
budgetary information and necessary adjustments, confirming funds availability for the
projects staff contracts and for the signing of partner agreements, consultancy among other
tasks), prepare financial reports for projects and handle projects information requirements
from donors.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the project opening and data management in our Enterprise Resource
Planning
(ERP) system.
o Coordinate opening of the project code and BUS in OCS for the hosting agreement
by providing a unique agreement number and sending out an opening email to
Operations Support, and Finance units.
o Prepare the grant opening template for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
system opening process.
o Prepare budget uploads in a timely manner to ensure budgets in the Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) systems are up-to-date.
o Monitoring the budget execution of the projects under her/his responsibility
• Prepare budgets and financial reports according to the guidelines and procedures
established by the Alliance for hosting arrangements.
o Monitor the budget execution based on the fund’s allocation.
o Analyze the information for reclassification of the expenditures.
o Collect data and documentation to support the preparation of financial reports
o Prepare financial reports and ensure reconciliation with the accounting records
o Coordinate the signature process of financial reports
• Assure compliance with financial and contractual obligations for the assigned portfolio
• Contribute to the optimization of the hosted process in the PLANS unit
• Support the PLANS Office with the financial management of grants assigned to other staff
• Maintain information regarding tax implications of the Hosted Agreement
• Other tasks as required from the PLANS unit
Requirements:
• University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or other related fields.
• Accounting/project management certification desired.
• At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in a closely related field gained in an
international organization including budgeting, accounting guidelines, and financial
management of projects.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices and procedures relevant to nonprofit organizations
• Strong proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Strong client service orientation
• High level of computer skills, ability to handle complex financial and budgeting systems
including excellent knowledge of Excel and ERP systems
• Knowledge of IFRS
• Good communication skills with a positive attitude and a strong service orientation
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
